Prayers & Squares Ministry

Active now for six years, the members of Prayers and Squares piece prayer quilts together that cover with prayer those who struggle with life-changing health issues. These prayers are at the heart of our worship life together. Over 220 quilts have been dedicated with many going to other states and overseas. The group meets the second and last Wednesday of each month at the Bobby Davis Museum.

Our Prayers and Squares Ministry comforts those afflicted with major illnesses. Each quilt is filled with prayers that are reflected by the long strings of yarn that are tied into square knots (right over left and left over right). Each knot symbolizes a prayer each member of the congregation has sent to God.

Members abide by these three rules:

It is not about the quilt—it is about the prayers.
We ask before we give out a quilt so that we know what the receiver wants us to pray for.
Finally, we do not accept any payment for a quilt—it is a gift of love.
